Philip Shapira is Professor of Innovation Management and Policy at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK, and Professor of Public Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. His interests encompass science, technology and innovation management and policy, responsible innovation, regional innovation, and policy evaluation. Professor Shapira is a Co-Investigator and Lead for Responsible Research and Innovation with the Manchester Synthetic Biology Research Centre for Fine and Speciality Chemicals. He led the Georgia Tech Nanotechnology Research and Innovation Assessment group of the Center for Nanotechnology in Society at Arizona State University.
Professor Shapira is a director of the Manchester-Atlanta-Beijing Innovation Co-Lab – a virtual research, training, and exchange collaboration to advance methods and analysis in emerging science, technology, and innovation management and policy. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Professor Shapira is co-editor of the Handbook of Innovation Policy Impact (Edward Elgar Publishing, Cheltenham UK, 2016).
