Laura Cruz-Castro

Laura Cruz-Castro is a Senior Research Fellow of the Spanish National Research Centre (CSIC). She works at the Institute of Public Goods and Policies where she is the Head of the Department of Science and Innovation dynamics.  She holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science and Sociology, a Masters degree in Social Sciences and a PhD in Sociology. Her research focuses on research and innovation policies, and comparative studies on S&T policies in Europe and in Spain, with especial attention to the role of human resources, the functioning of research and academic labor markets, research careers, and the relationship between higher education and research policy. Public research organizations and their responses to changes in the S&T funding system, and regional science policies in comparative perspective have also been issues of her interest. She has published in international journals like: PLOS ONE; Public Understanding of Science; Research Policy; Scientometrics; Technological Forecasting and Social Change; Journal of Technology Transfer; Science and Public Policy; Research Evaluation; Industry and Innovation; Regional Studies; International Journal of Technology Management; International Studies on Management and Organization. She is currently involved in a research project analyzing the organizational responses of Research Organizations to the economic crisis and to understand what factors contribute to changes in R&D activities and in the institutional logics that govern research organizations through the study of their organizational practices, and another one dealing with the characterization and growth of new types of organizations in population of research entities the research in Europe.
