Kelly LeRoux

Kelly LeRoux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she teaches courses in nonprofit management. Her research has been published in more than a dozen public and nonprofit management journals, including Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Nonprofit Management & Leadership, and Policy Studies Journal. She the author of a forthcoming book with Mary Feeney titled Nonprofits Organizations and Civil Society in the U.S. published by Routledge. Professor LeRoux’s research focus on nonprofits’ voter mobilization and political advocacy activities and she also studies issues of nonprofit performance, accountability and networks. She is currently working on a project supported by the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy that investigates the effect of nonprofit board diversity on organizational performance in the human services. Before beginning an academic career, she worked for eleven years as the Associate Director for a mental health organization in Michigan and has served on several nonprofit boards in Detroit and Kansas City.
