Jongwon Park

Jongwon Park is founder and CEO of JP Global Consulting LLC, a consulting company that provides strategic planning, program design, business model development, research collaboration strategy, and impact evaluation services with a focus on research performing organizations and research funding organizations. Mr. Park has been an Associate Director of Science and Technology Policy Program at SRI International and a senior research fellow of Center for International Science and Technology Policy at George Washington University. In 2012, Mr. Park spent a year as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute and also served as special advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology in Seoul, Korea.   He works with government funding agencies, research institutes, corporations, and universities to improve research and innovation capacity, and with governments at the local, regional, and national level to enhance the economic impact of their investments in research and innovation. Mr. Park has a deep understanding of the challenges to implementing regional and national innovation strategies in the U.S., East Asia, and the Middle East. He has published in journals such as Scientometrics, Journal of Technology Transfer, and Research-Technology, Management (RTM) Journal on evaluation of research organizations and new models of scientific and technical workforce management. Since 2004, he has been a regular contributor to NSB’s Science and Engineering Indicators, which documents quantitative data on the U.S. and international science and engineering enterprise.  Mr. Park received B.S. in Physics from Korea University and has passed the doctoral qualifying examination for the Ph.D. in the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
