Chris Hayter, director of CORD’s Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship research program, is co-Principal Investigator for a  multidisciplinary team of researchers selected to evaluate technology transfer practices at federal research laboratories.  The two-year project grant, entitled ‘An Empirical Analysis of Federal Laboratory Technology Transfer’ also includes CORD director Barry Bozeman and researchers from the Research Triangle Institute, University of North Carolina – Greensboro, and State University of New York – Albany.  The project is funded by the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is intended to improve the transfer technologies out of federal labs and into the private sector for commercialization.  The project will also result in the development of a database cataloging technology transfer activities among national labs so that other scholars may make use of this data.
